Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge rated as the 'Best Smartphone 2016' at MWC 2017

Samsung's last year flagship smartphone Galaxy S7 Edge has been adjudged as the 'best smartphone of 2016' by GSMA, a global industry body that represents the interests of GSM telecom operators across the globe. The company got the award at the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2017 (MWC 2017) event in Barcelona, Spain.

"We are honored to be recognized for our craftsmanship in design and innovation with the Galaxy S7 edge," said Junho Park, Vice President of Global Product Strategy, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics. "This award is a testament to our constant pursuit of excellence as we continue to exceed consumers' expectations through revolutionary mobile technology."

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge was launched alongside the Galaxy S7 at the MWC 2016. The smartphone was later launched in India in March at Rs 56,900. The company since then has added new colour variants to the smartphone range. These include Coral Blue, Pink and Black.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is powered by 1.6GHz octa-core it comes with 4GB of RAM. The phone packs 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 200GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge packs a 12-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge runs Android 6.0 and is powered by a 3600mAh non removable battery. It measures 150.90 x 72.60 x 7.70 (height x width x thickness) and weigh 157.00 grams.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) . Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, USB OTG, 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope and Barometer.
